Pets: Your pet is welcome to come along with you during your visit; however, whether in the campground or on a hiking trail, New Melones Lake requires the animal to be on a leash no longer than six feet (1.8 m) in length and pets are not to be left unattended at any time.

Original Sep 4, 2003: Starting this Friday, entrance gates at the Glory Hole and Tuttletown recreation areas of New Melones Lake will close earlier, when new fall hours go into effect.

Fall and spring gate hours are 4 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. Winter hours, due to take effect Oct. 26, will be 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. People can exit the park at any time, but no one can enter when the gates are closed.

Officials started closing the gates as a result of vandalism hoping to reduce the frequency of illegal behavior and activities. Park staff says so far the early closures have helped. During the summer, the gates were open until 11 p.m.

The new hours extends the security for campers and visitors for the night a park official said. They urge anyone witnessing illegal activities after hours to report them to local law enforcement by dialing 911. For non-emergency situations, call the New Melones Lake Administrative Office during regular business hours at (209) 536-9094.
