Calaveras County Sheriffs Arrest Two On Drug Charges
San Andreas, CA — Calaveras County Sheriff´s Department has two Merced residents in custody following a pursuit that ended up in Vallcito yesterday.
Deputies say 28-year-old Antonio Chavez and 30-year-old Christoval Chavez are facing drug and endangerment charges after a Sheriff´s Deputy reportedly attempted to make a traffic stop on a vehicle that was coming out of the Camp Nine Road area near Parrot´s Ferry at about 7:00 in the morning.
Officers say the suspect vehicle almost hit the patrol car as it sped away. As more deputies arrived, they received a report that a vehicle had crashed into a yard in Vallecito.
Witnesses reported that the two occupants of the vehicle fled on foot into a nearby wooded area.
After a brief foot chase the two were captured and booked into the Calaveras County Jail.
Deputies say 40 pounds of Marijuana with a street value of $500,000 was discovered in the car.
Christoval Chavez is being held on $50,000 bail while Antonio Chavez´s bail was set at $40,000.
