Sonora, CA – Sonora Regional Medical Center welcomes Rana Rand, D.O., a board-certified Physiatrist who uses non-surgical methods to treat patients with nerve, muscle and bone diseases or injuries.  Dr. Rand is skilled in neuromusculoskeletal and sports medicine, osteopathic manipulation, and regenerative medicine approaches.  She has a special interest in integrative medicine and is also board-certified in Obesity Medicine.

Dr. Rand earned her Bachelor of Science degree with highest honors in Biochemistry from the University of California, Davis and her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey School of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed an Internal Medicine internship at Lankenau Medical Center in Pennsylvania, and residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the renowned Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation in New Jersey.  She will complete her medical acupuncture training through Harvard Medical School in June 2017.

“I chose a career in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation because I appreciate its holistic and hands-on approach to physical diagnosis and treatment,” explains Dr. Rand.  She tailors treatment to each individual using a range of tools including exercise, physical therapy, medications, and injections as well as gentle osteopathic manipulation, acupuncture, and nutrition to help reduce pain and enhance function. She has a particular focus on treating pelvic, hip, and sacroiliac joint pain.

Dr. Rand grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and is thrilled to live close to family and Yosemite National Park after spending the last decade on the East Coast and in private practice in the Midwest.  She and her fiancé, Dr. Brett Lockman, also a physiatrist joining Adventist Health, relocated to Sonora from Davenport, Iowa with their two rambunctious dogs. Dr. Rand enjoys the outdoors, yoga, and learning about anything related to health, movement, and the human body.
