Calaveras County Budget Finalized

San Andreas, CA — There were not many smiles in San Andreas Thursday when the new fiscal budget was finalized.
According to the Stockton Record a final budget of $106.5 million was approved by the five supervisors.
To reach that amount $2.4 million in requests from county departments were denied including a sergeant and four deputies for the Sheriff´s Department. Given the growth of the county, Sheriff Dennis Downum stated that what he really needs is 15 additional deputies.
In addition the county´s road fund lost $763,000.
