Record Breaking Climb In Yosemite

Sponsored by:

Yosemite, CA — A couple of the world’s best rock climbers have set the record for ascending the Nose route of El Capitan in Yosemite National Park.

The Associated Press reports that Brad Gobright, 29 and Jim Reynolds recently raced up the 90-degree and 2,900 ft. precipice in two hours and 19 minutes. The pair broke the previous record set by Hans Florine and Alex Honnold in June of 2012 of two hours and 23 minutes.

El Capitan is considered one of the world’s most dangerous and technical climbs. Over two dozen people have been killed since 1905 while climbing El Capitan. Most recently several tons of rock fell to the left of this climbing route as detailed here.
