Customers Charged For Charging?
San Francisco, CA — Claiming it will help reach the Governor’s goal of having 1.5 million zero-emission vehicles on California roadways by 2025, PG&E has asked for a monthly bill hike to pay for vehicle charging stations.
The company’s plan is to install 25,000 charging stations across Northern and Central California at a price tag of roughly $653.8 million. To pay for it, PG&E on Monday submitted the plan, which includes an extra 70 cents monthly charge for 5.1 million electricity customers, to the California Public Utilities Commission. If approved, the added charge would go into effect in 2018.
Tesla Motors, BMW and Volkswagen all have charging stations plans in the works as there are around 100,000 electric cars on the road in California.
