Low Pay For Game Wardens Affecting Law Enforcement

Sacramento, CA — Although Fish & Game Wardens frequently assist rural and small municipal law enforcement, officials say there are not enough of them to go around.
In April, a Fish and Game Warden was the first on the scene to a possible rape and kidnapping in progress along the Truckee River.
The warden was able to arrest two armed men before police even arrived; however reports indicate that as helpful as the wardens can be, recruiting them is a problem.
Officials say low pay is affecting the hiring of qualified Game Wardens, which in turn affects local law enforcement.
