Mary Montini, born November 15, 1939 passed away Thursday, July 1, 2021 at Avalon Care Center, Sonora, California

Gone to join where a party awaits her in heaven with so many loved ones who have gone before. She was born on November 15, 1939 in San Francisco, California to Myrtle and Reynold Peterson. As the sole girl, Mary quickly learned to hold her own while being surrounded by brothers, Johnny, Gary and David. She was creative, had quick wit and wry humor, and a tenacious spirit. She was also always her father’s little girl, and he gave her the nickname, Punkin, by which she was known for most of her life. In high school, she met her best friend, Dave Montini, and the two quickly became inseparable.  Theirs was a most enduring friendship, as they marked their 64th anniversary this year. Married on June 29, 1957, they were the first couple to be married at the newly built St. Simon Church in Los Altos, CA. In quick succession, they found themselves the parents of five children, Lynn, Patty, Dave, Karen and Laurie.

Mary worked for almost twenty years at El Camino Hospital in Communications Department and then as a manager in the business office.  After her employment at El Camino Hospital she worked as an office manager for a local obstetrician and then held the same title with Retinal Associates Group in San Mateo.  Mary was a hard worker and valuable employee.

The Montini home was always full of life and fun.  So many wanted to be part of their family and just hang out in their orbit, because of Mary’s positive energy.  After living in Palo Alto, Mountain View and Sunnyvale, Dave and Mary moved to Copperopolis, where they could indulge their love of living lakeside and providing recreational fun for their family.  In “retirement”, both Mary and Dave made many friends, volunteered for many purposes and continued to make an impact on the lives of others, while thoroughly spoiling their beloved dogs Max and Corky.

Preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Mary will be deeply missed by her husband, Dave Montini, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, as well as her extended family and friends.
