Domestic Disturbance Leads To Arrest

Arnold, CA — A domestic disturbance causing injury led to the arrest of an Arnold man Monday.

Calaveras County Deputies responded to a call on Lighting Lane in Arnold where a victim said the suspect William Varn came home from work upset and began hitting things in the house. Deputies say Varn used the back portion of his hand to strike the victim in the face.

The suspect left the area but was soon pulled over at Country Club Drive and Meadowview Road. Deputies found Varn to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage and arrested him.

A search turned up marijuana and a pipe in Varn´s pants pocket. Varn´s charges include corporal injury to a spouse, possession of marijuana, driving on a suspended license, and driving under the influence.

Varn is in Calaveras County Jail on $68,000 bail and is awaiting arraignment.
