Revised Winter Changes At New Melones

Sonora, CA – Several recreation facilities around New Melones have shut down due to seasonal revised changes that go into effect today.

The Bureau of Reclamation has implemented revised recreation area winter operations at New Melones Lake. The switch will allow crews to do facility maintenance and enable natural resource recovery, according to reclamation officials. The bureau provided this list of changes:

  • Closed Tuttletown Recreation Area facilities: Acorn Campground and Fiddleneck Group Camp
  • Closed Glory Hole Recreation Area facilities: Big Oak Campground and Osprey Point Day-Use Area
  • Open Tuttletown Recreation Area facilities: All day-use areas, including the boat launch; Manzanita Campground, Chamise Campground and Oak Knoll Group Camp
  • Open Glory Hole Recreation Area facilities: All day-use areas, including the two boat launches; Ironhorse Campground

Bureau officials note that all campgrounds in the Tuttletown and Glory Hole Recreation Areas and day-use areas will reopen April 1.
