Update: Crash Into Powerlines Closes Highway 49 In Angels Camp
Update at 4 p.m.: Â PG&E reports the number of those without power has dropped to 314 mostly in the area of Highway 49 between Fourth Crossing and Highway 4. The restoration time remains 6:15 p.m. Additional details on the crash and outage are below.
Update at 3 p.m.: Although Highway 49 has already reopened to traffic after a big rig truck hit a power pole and brought down lines near Copello Drive in Angels Camp, thousands are still without electricity in that area. PG&E reports that crews have made some progress as out of the original 4,170 there remains 3,141 still without lights. The utility has pushed the estimated restoration time for those customers back to 6:15 p.m. Further details on the crash are below.
Update at 1:05 p.m.:Â The CHP reports that Highway 49 has reopened after a crash involving a big rig truck that hit a power pole bringing lines down near Copello Drive in Angels Camp.
The collision happened in the 11 o’clock hour and thankfully there were no injuries reported. There are still 4,170 customers in that area without electricity due to the incident. PG&E has posted an estimated repair time of around 2:15 p.m.
Original post at 11:30 a.m.: Angels Camp, CA — There is a crash involving a big rig truck hitting power lines along Highway 49 near Copello Road in Angels Camp.
Highway 49 is blocked in that area, near the northwestern edge of the city, and Caltrans has been requested because it is anticipated to be an extended highway closure. You will want to avoid the area. The CHP reports that thankfully no injuries have been reported.
4,170 customers are without electricity due to the incident. PG&E is hoping to have everyone restored at around 2:15pm.
