Hotel Tax Increase?

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — The Tuolumne County Supervisors will decide whether to place an increase in the Transient Occupancy Tax on the June 8th ballot.

The Supervisors will vote Tuesday whether to ask voters to increase the tax placed on hotels and lodging businesses from eight percent to 10 percent.

The proposal has gained the endorsement of the Tuolumne County Visitors Bureau and the Tuolumne County Lodging Association.

A similar measure was voted down in 2004. The extra money would be used to market the area to tourists and help cover costs to maintain roads and services used by visitors.
