Update: Grub Fire 30% Contained, Columbia Aircraft Assist
Update: 6:30 p.m.: Cal Fire reports all restrictions have been lifted on the Grub Fire burning west of Oakhurst. The fire is holding at 60 acres and 30 percent contained. Ground crews will remain on scene working to gain more containment overnight. A Columbia air helicopter has already returned to base and the two tankers will be returning shortly.
Update at 5:30 p.m.: Fire crews are getting a handle on the Grub Fire as it is 30 percent contained and remains 60 acres. Cal Fire reports three homes have been evacuated and other structures are threatened.

The flames ignited in some brush along the 39000 block of Road 600 near Grub Gulch Road and Action Grade Road. The Madera County Sheriff’s office reports Road 600 is currently closed between Apache Ranch Road and Road 810.

Original post at 2:42 p.m.: Ahwahnee, CA – If you noticed Columbia air resources flying overhead they are heading to a vegetation fire in Ahwahnee, which is west of Oakhurst in Madera County.
Cal Fire spokesperson Lindy Shoff confirms that a helicopter and two tankers are enroute to what has been dubbed the “Grub Fire.” The flames broke out around 2:15 p.m. in the 39000 block of Road 600 near Grub Gulch Road. Shoff had no information on the size of the fire, the flame’s rate of spread or whether any structures are threatened. We will bring you more details as soon as they come into the news center.
