Today, State Controller Kathleen Connell blocked payment of about 36-hundred-dollars in expenses by
Department of Water Resources employees. The expenses included a 910-dollar bill for sushi and about 440 dollars worth of Italian food. Connell said the use
of state credit cards at restaurants is strictly forbidden.

But D-W-R spokesman Oscar Hidalgo said the meals were for about three dozen employees
require to work round-the-clock to keep the lights on. He says workers couldn´t leave their posts to eat.
