New DVD player plays CDs but not DVDs

Question: A friend recently helped me install a DVD player in my computer. It plays cds just fine but I can’t see any movies play when I try to play a DVD. What is wrong?

Answer: You did not mention if any software came with your DVD player but I suspect you need some software to play DVD movie content. DVD playing software can be found online at sites such as download.com or you could contact the DVD drive manufacturer for their recommendation. Once you obtain and install software, you should be able to play movies on DVD in your computer with no problems.
