David “Dave” Lee Holcomb, born August 17, 1930 in San Francisco to Herbert and Nancy Holcomb. He passed away Sunday, October 10, 2021 at the age of 91 at Adventist Health Sonora.

The family relocated to Reno, NV where Dave spent most of his childhood. They moved again when Dave was in high school, this time back to the SF Bay Area. Dave graduated from Hayward High School in 1948. He met and married Erma Beavers while attending Westmont College in Santa Barbara, California. He immediately received a draft notice from “Uncle Sam” and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He served 3 years in England where his first two daughters, Carol
and Sharon, were born.
Upon returning to the U.S., Dave settled his family in Santa Barbara and began his career as an engineering draftsman. His third daughter Pamela was born soon after. He worked for the Santa Barbara Water District for a few years, and then moved to the Bay Area where he worked for the Bechtel Corporation for 8 years, helping with the plans for BART. He worked for a few smaller engineering firms, and then branched out on his own with his “Dave’s Drafting Service.”
Dave and Erma bought a vacation cabin in the Pine Mountain Lake resort in Groveland, CA in 1989. They enjoyed it on weekends and summers until they retired and moved there permanently in 1994. Dave and Erma had 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. Dave was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Kathleen Youngquist, and his beloved wife of 60 years Erma.
