California State Parks, Railtown 1897 State Historic Park (SHP) and the California State Railroad Museum Foundation are proud to present lantern-lit “Tales of the Roundhouse” tours and train rides on two special evenings only – Friday, September 24 and Saturday, September 25, 2021, with tours at 6:30 and 7 p.m. Led by engaging and entertaining guides, “Tales of the Roundhouse” participants will hear the real life and death tales of past railroad workers and passengers who lost their lives in ghastly accidents, gruesome train wrecks and sometimes by cold-blooded murder.

First introduced in 2016, “Tales of the Roundhouse” guests will have the special opportunity to tour the historic park after dark while listening to intriguing, railroad-related ghost stories. Evening visitors will also enjoy going behind-the-scenes with special access to the historic Roundhouse and Blacksmith Shop. Plus, guests will experience a nighttime steam train ride behind a historic steam locomotive while learning about railroad superstition and lore.

This event is being held in compliance with all state, city and county COVID-19 guidelines and masks are required on all train rides. Limited space is available and advance tickets are recommended for the special two-hour “Tales of the Roundhouse” tours and evening train ride at Railtown 1897 SHP. Tickets cost $25 per person ($20 for members) and are available at www.railtown1897.org. Due to the nature of the tour content, the “Tales of the Roundhouse” event is not recommended for guests under 12 years of age.
