The first annual Safe Living and Elder Empowerment Symposium is scheduled for Wednesday, October 5th from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Sonora Elks Lodge. This information filled event for elders and disabled adults, will feature Suzanne Schultz, Retired San Joaquin County Justice Center and elder abuse prevention expert, and actor, comedian Sandy Hackett. Local speakers include District Attorney Cassandra Jenecke, Assistant District Attorney Eric Hovatter, and Melissa McCormick, Adult Protective Services. This free event will include lunch, information regarding local services, transportation, and more. Free shredding services will also be provided from 9:00 – 10:00 am by Longson Document & Paper Shredding, providing residential and commercial shredding services throughout Tuolumne County. The Safe Living and Elder Empowerment Symposium is brought to you by the Tuolumne County District Attorney’s Office, Tuolumne County Victim Witness, Tuolumne County Adult Protective Services, the Tuolumne Band of Me Wuk Indian’s Elders’ Program and Black Oak Casino, Longson Document & Paper Shredding, Adventist Health Home Care Services, Area 12 Agency on Aging, and The Mother Lode Office of Catholic Charites.
