Bonsai club reopens with
demo by noted bonsai expert

After an extended period of absence due to the pandemic, Mother Lode Bonsai Club’s first meeting back will be held on Saturday, May 7 at 10:00 a.m. in the San Andreas Central Library, 1299 Gold Hunter Road (off Mountain Ranch Road) in San Andreas. The public is invited and there is no charge for admission.
Along with a discussion on the future vision for the club, the monthly featured demonstration will be presented by Sam Adina, who is also the sensei (teacher) for the Modesto Bonsai Club. Adina has been raising and teaching bonsai design for over 20 years and is recognized as one of the area’s best bonsai instructors. He has conducted presentations for the prestigious Golden State Bonsai Federation, California Shohin Society and numerous bonsai venues in the Philippines.
Adina’s demonstration tree will be offered through an open raffle, along with other club plants, growing materials, and special items. Members will be available for tips and advice on raising bonsai “trees in a pot.”
For more information on the Mother Lode Bonsai Club, contact Doug Lau at (209) 588-8106. Everyone is invited to attend club meetings, demonstrations and workshops regardless of their levels of experience in bonsai. The organization’s members come from Amador, Calaveras and Tuolumne counties, as well as the San Joaquin Valley.
