Church of the 49ers
Do you remember Hootenannies? Folks at the Church of the 49ers in Columbia are hosting a community sing-along of favorite songs from the Sixties era, and we’re calling it a Hootenanny. The event will be held inside air-conditioned Faith Hall on the Friday of Labor Day Weekend, September 1, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm.
Alex Kash, a local professional singer and master of the 12-string guitar and harmonica, will perform some of his vast repertoire of popular songs from the Sixties — including favorites by Peter, Paul & Mary and Simon & Garfunkel.
You may sit back and just enjoy the music, but we hope you’ll join in! Words to the songs will be projected onto a screen, so you don’t even have to try to recall them. Popcorn and other refreshments will be available. There is no admission charge, however a free will offering will be taken to offset expenses.
The Church of the 49ers is located at 11155 Jackson Street in Columbia (corner of Parrotts Ferry Road and Jackson Street). For more information, call 532-6604.
