The Sonora Chamber of Commerce is delighted to announce the return of El Campo de Sonora on June 7, 2025 from 2pm to 8pm at Courthouse Park. In its second year, El Campo de Sonora will celebrate the vibrant, colorful aggregation of cultures of 175 years ago. In that spirit, this year’s theme is “A Cultural Tapestry,” and the afternoon-long program with feature plays, music, plays, music, dance, storytelling, art and crafts, and, of course, food that showcase the indigenous people and various nationalities and ethnicities populating Sonora in 1849. This free, family-friendly celebration of Sonora’s history, culture, and the arts will feature performances and activities including:

Tuolumne County Historical Society Storytelling Booth — Tales of Local History and an old-time photo booth Cultural Crafting Booth —Tuolumne County Arts offers hands-on activities
Food Court and Artisan Vendors — Ethnic food booths and crafts

Schedule

All start times are approximate and may vary slightly as the day unfolds:

2:10 pm – 2:40 pm The Tuolumne Band of Me-Wuk Dance Group as they share their cultural dances and songs passed down through generations. (Out of respect for cultural protocols, no photography or recording is allowed during this performance.)

2:50 pm – 3:20 pm Black Irish Band acoustic performance and stories

3:30 pm – 4:15 pm Gun Powder Man, a Historical Play performed by Lesly Tejero Baker

4:15 pm – 4:30 pm Long Fist Kung Fu Association Lion Dancers

4:40 pm – 4:55 pm Jewish History of Sonora with Pat Perry, City of Sonora Historian

5:00 pm – 5:40 pm Mark Twain brought to life in a spirited performance that captures his wit, charm, and sharp observations

5:50 pm – 6:05 pm Mexican History talk about Mexican miners during the founding of Sonora in May 1851

6:30 pm – 8:00 pm Mother Lode Latin Jazz Ensemble concert by the Mother Lode Latin Ensemble
