Pills Pile Up

San Andreas, CA – Plenty of you dropped drugs off to Calaveras County Sheriff’s Officials. In October, there were three locations in the county where residents could drop off the unused, expired, and illegal drugs with no questions asked.

“The “Drop the Drugs” campaign was very successful. In total, we received over 400 pounds of medications including prescription, over the counter and other drugs,” says Sgt. Chris Hewitt.

Those drugs will be turned over to the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration to be properly destroyed. The event was co-sponsored by the Calaveras County Office of Education, Calaveras County Behavioral Health Services, and the Alliance for Substance Abuse Prevention.
