Big Oak Flat Groveland Unified

All nine public elementary schools in Tuolumne County are separate districts except the Big Oak Flat School District that includes Tenaya Elementary and Tioga High students in Groveland and Don Pedro High School in La Grange. The Big Oak Flat school district boundary includes homes in Groveland, Pine Mountain Lake, around Lake Don Pedro, and all the sparsely populated areas in between in the southern part of Tuolumne County. The Tuolumne River forms most of the northern border of the Big Oak Flat school district, dividing it from the Curtis Creek and Summerville Districts. Much farther south and west Roberts Ferry Elementary in Waterford includes the community of La Grange in Stanislaus County. Coulterville students are in the Mariposa County School District.

Notable Big Oak Flat District Boundaries

The Curtis Creek river cuts off properties at the Jacksonville Road Bridge nearly 7 miles before it joins Highway 120 with homes north of there in the Jamestown district. Algerine Road at Curtis Creek and the Algerine area is in the Sonora District.

Curtis Creek, Sullivan Creek and Don Pedro Reservoir form the northern border of the Big Oak Flat school district. The Lake Don Pedro Owners Association with over 3,500 members is in the southwestern corner of Tuolumne County. Although Don Pedro Lake is completely within Tuolumne’s borders some of the Association members around the lake are in Mariposa county. Lake Don Pedro Elementary School with about 200 students is in the Mariposa school district, not to be confused with the larger Don Pedro Elementary School in Ceres. Mariposa County has one district with 8 school sites and about 1,700 students. Within the borders of Tuolumne County and the Big Oak Flat District is Don Pedro High School with under 40 students.
