Several events are planned in the Mother Lode this weekend. At Columbia Elementary the 8th annual Seed Share Event will take place Saturday from 10am to 4pm. FoCuS (Foothill Collaborative for Sustainability) and Master Gardeners will give presentations throughout the day, food and seeds will be available for purchase. Food proceeds from the event will go to Master Gardeners for school gardens; donations for seeds will go to purchase seeds and other items for school gardens, the Sonora Seed Library, and community gardens in the Sierra foothill region.
Saturday is also Family Movie Matinee at the Tuolumne County Library Community. The featured movie is Minions rated PG. The movie will start at 2:00 PM in the Sonora Main Library Community Room. Details are in the Saturday Family Movie Matinee event listing.
Saturday evening will also be when many will gather at sunset in Yosemite to photograph Horsetail Falls lit up by the sunset. Conditions have not worked out the previous four years due to little snow runoff. Mid February is best time to catch the sun shining directly on the falls and this year there is enough snow. Local ski resorts are still open and information on all California ski resorts are here.
