Li Ching Accurso, the Art Professor of Columbia College, has an exhibition of oil paintings currently on view in the Manzanita Building, Columbia College Campus until April 30th from 8am to 5pm and at the Tuolumne County Library through March 8th from 9 am to 5pm.

Li Ching is intrigued with the rich and diverse qualities of oil paint, constantly exploring the various characteristics of the medium: thick, thin, drips, wiping off while wet, blending and reworking, in addition to its vibrant colors and sheen. Oil allows Li Ching to express herself fully even she is constantly developing visual vocabularies in the work. Li Ching explains, “In this group of work from the last four years, I have been thinking about water, flowers, simplified figurative forms, and cars in landscape. I aim to express wonder, hope, joy, and curiosity to the viewers through my work.”

Li Ching Accurso was born in Taiwan in 1962. Her family immigrated to the United States when she was fourteen years old. She attended UC Berkeley for both a BA in Fine Art and an MFA in Painting. She was awarded the prestigious Eisner Price in Painting at Berkeley when she received her Master’s degree and soon after was a Fulbright Scholar, 1991-1992. She has been an Art Professor at Columbia College in Sonora, CA since 1995.

She desires to share her joy and passion in Art. Li wishes to celebrate life and to add value to all who encounter her art works.
