Last Weekend In September Events

While weather forecasts promise the temperature will climb back up to 90 degrees, as reported here, the first day of Autumn did see the temperature go below 50 degrees briefly. Enjoy mild sunny weather this weekend by going out and attending these local events.  

The 20th annual Concours d’Elegance will be held at Ironstone Vineyards in Murphys this Saturday. Read about our interview with Ironstone Concours Foundation President Gail Kautz in the KVML “Newsmaker of the Day” news story here.

The 18th Annual Fall Health Fair is also this Saturday at the Mark Twain Medical Center. Details on the tests they will offer are in our KVML “Newsmaker of the Day” from Wednesday.

The Fiddle & Bango Contest (purposely misspelling the word banjo) is held at the gazebo in Columbia State Historic Park. More than 40 musicians compete for prizes in several categories. The grand prize is a gold nugget, and there are cash prizes details are here.

Also at Columbia State Historic Park view some “floral arts” featuring poison oak at the annual Poison Oak Show. Details are here.

Sierra Waldorf School’s “Jam To The Dam” is planned for Saturday morning at the South Shore of Lake Tullock. Swimming, yoga, stand up paddle boards or kayaks are welcome, details are here.

In Angels Camp enjoy Free Admission Day at the Angels Camp Museum. Details on the activities and exhibits are here. In San Andreas the Mother Lode Bonsai Club will host its annual show at the Calaveras County Master Garden Demonstration Garden. Details and a map to the location are in the event listing here.

Sunday is also the Angels Camp Gold Run. The event is a community sponsored 5K/10K race through the historic town of Angels Camp to benefit the students of Mark Twain Elementary School.
