Mother Lode Bonsai Club will host its annual show on Saturday, September 24. The public is invited to attend the free event at the Calaveras County Master Gardeners Demonstration Garden, located at the County Government Center, 891 Mountain Ranch Road (off Hwy. 49) in San Andreas. The one-day show, which runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., will be conducted in conjunction with the Master Gardeners open garden on that day.
Along with dozens of miniature trees on display, a public demonstration on repotting and styling of a juniper will be presented by club Sensei (teacher) Frank Garcia. In addition, tips on maintaining the health of bonsai will be discussed. Members will also be available to provide information and print material to attendees on this ancient living art.
“Bonsai cultivation is a creative and enjoyable hobby for all ages,” said Bob Dean,
club president. “We welcome everyone at all levels of experience. Curiosity and a desire to learn more are the only requirements.”
Club members reside in Amador, Calaveras and Tuolumne counties, as well as the valley. For more information, contact Dean at (209) 754-5887 or go online to www.motherlodebonsai.org.
