March is nearly over, and there are several fundraisers and events planned. This Friday, Good Friday will be held at St. Patricks Catholic Church in Angels Camp. The event, listed here, is described as a “dynamic presentation of live “Stations of the Cross” commemorating the passion of our Lord, Jesus Christ”
Later in the evening on Friday, at the Sonora Elks Lodge, will be the Sonora Lions Annual Harvey “Dusty” Rhodes Cioppino Dinner. Details are here.
On Saturday there is a 5k-10k Walk/Run to raise awareness for Lymphoma at Feeney Park, the baseball field seen from Highway 4 just prior to Murphys. More details are in the event listing.
The Calaveras Gem and Mineral Show will be celebrating their 40th anniversary at the Calaveras Fairgrounds in Angels Camp on Saturday and Sunday. Details are here.
Columbia State Historic Park’s 166th birthday celebration details are listed in the event calendar here. Saturday and Sunday there will be events and discovery reenactments by costumed volunteers. The traditional date of the birthday celebration changed this year due to the fact that it fell on Easter Sunday. Amid Easter festivities taking place in Columbia on Sunday, there will be reprises of the birthday speech and reenactment. The Small Fry Egg Search begins Sunday at noon for ages 3 to 5. At 12:30 be dressed for the Victorian Easter Parade beginning at 12:30 p.m. Prizes will be awarded for fanciest Victorian hat, best dressed couple, lasses and lads, groups, and pets. Registration begins at 11:00 a.m. in front of the Fallon Hotel. After the Easter Parade, the Junior Egg Poachers (ages 6 to 8) will try their luck at 1:00 p.m., and finally the Great Egg Scramblers (ages 9 to 12) at 1:30 p.m. All events are free, sponsored by the Columbia Chamber of Commerce.
Saturday morning at 9:30am at the Christian Heights Church Athletic Field will be a Community Easter Egg Hunt. Saturday is also the Groveland Rotary Club will also host their 26th Annual Community Easter Egg Hunt, details are here. Sonora FFA members are hosting a Community Easter Egg Hunt at the Wildcat Ranch. The Sonora Moose Lodge is also hosting a Kids Easter Party Saturday afternoon.

Saturday afternoon is the annual Badges & Hoops at Summerville High School.
At Ironstone Vineyards the Murphys-Angels Lions Club is hosting an Easter Brunch at 10:30am and a free Easter Egg Hunt on Sunday. Children 4 and under search at 11:30am, ages 5-8 at noon, and at 12:30 ages 9 to 12 may search. All the Sunday events are here.
