Sponsored by:

Calaveras County, CA – The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office has lifted the evacuation advisory for five homes on Riata Way now that the Oak Fire is 60% contained. Deputies evacuated five homes on Riata Way around 4:30 this afternoon.  An evacuation shelter that was set up at the Copperopolis Elementary is now closed.

There is no estimated time of full containment for the 80 – 100 acre Oak Fire burning in Calaveras County near Oak Valley Road and Pool Station Road.  Cal Fire reports the rate of spread has been “moderate.” Motorists are still being asked to avoid portions of Pool Station Road and Riata Way.

PG&E crews are on scene to help with threatened power lines in the area. The cause of the fire is under investigation. There has been one minor injury.
