Tomorrow, Friday June 14, is Flag Day and the Sonora Elk’s BPOE 1587 and Sonora Emblem Club #124 invite everyone to celebrate with an event that will feature sharing of Flag History, Patriotic Songs, and proper American Flag disposal. After the  ceremony they will host a hot dog dinner in the lodge, details are here. 

Also Friday evening is the weekly Angels Camp Certified Farmers Market at Utica Park as detailed here.

Saturday events begin with Sonora Certified Farmer’s Market from 7:30 am to 11:30 am at Theall and Stewart St. Then there is the Crystal Falls Summer Peddler’s Fair from 8:00 am to  2:00 pm put on by the Crystal Falls Association. It is also an opportunity for a rare view of New Melones Lake from the Dam Overlook. As detailed here, from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm a park ranger will be available on site to answer questions about the dam and history of New Melones Lake. The overlook is off Old Melones Dam Road /Peoria Flat Road, which can be reached by taking O’Byrnes Ferry Road from Hwy 108.

This Weekend is the Wings & Wheels Fathers Day Fly-In at Columbia Airport. Kathy Bramblett, organizer and event spokesperson for the local Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 391, provided all the details in Wednesday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day” here. The event starts both Saturday and Sunday at 7:00 am with the traditional Boy Scout Troop Father’s Day Pancake Breakfast at the campground across the runway from the main entrance. Events such as plane rides and a tethered balloon ride start at 8 AM and go until 3:30 PM both days. On Saturday night there will be a free hangar dance for all from 6 to 10 pm.

Saturday at Utica Park in Angels Camp will be a State of Jefferson Family Fun Day Fundraiser as detailed here.

Saturday the Arnold Lions Club is hosting its Annual Golf Tournament at the Sequoia Woods County Club in Arnold and the Sonora Elks are hosting a Luau at the Sonora Elks Lodge in Jamestown.

Finally Saturday evening the Twain Harte Chamber of Commerce will set up Concerts in the Pines from 6 pm to 8pm at Eproson Park.
