First Weekend Of March Events

Sponsored by:

There are some events planned for the first weekend in March including Junior Bryant speaking at the Summerville Bears Quarterback Club’s Community and Sponsor Thank You Dinner. The dinner is Friday night and members of the public are invited to listen to the former star defensive lineman for the San Francisco 49ers. The event is at the Elks Lodge in Sonora and listed in our community calendar here. All of the proceeds from the event will go to the school’s athletic non-profit as detailed in the Thursday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day” here.

Saturday is Bark For Life of Tuolumne County at Tuolumne Memorial Park. Dogs are the unnoticed caregivers who give a special kind of support for cancer patients. The American Cancer Society’s Bark For Life of Tuolumne County is a walk for dogs and their owners to fight back against cancer. Bark For Life is a way to pay tribute to our favorite canines and raise funds and awareness to create a world with less cancer and more birthdays. There will be a canine costume contest, fun games, raffles, fundraisers, demonstrations, adoptable animals, and booths. The event is free to the public, but there is a registration fee for dogs. You can pre-register and get more information in the event listing here.

Saturday at 10am the University of California Cooperative Extension will have Tuolumne County Master Gardeners from their Program at their Demonstration Garden. The Rose pruning presentation will begin at 10:30 am at the Sugg House, more rose pruning information will be provided at the Demonstration Garden along with the Grapevine and Seed presentations and there will be a ‘quick’ Fruit Tree Pruning talk. The community event listing is here.

Saturday for dinner join the community at the Sonora Elks lodge for a Crab and Shrimp Feed. Their event listing is here.

Sunday Donkey Basketball returns to Tuolumne City, with players riding on donkeys up and down the court.
