Flag Day, Father’s Day And More Mid-June Events
Friday June 14, is Flag Day. In addition to the many flags displayed on Washington Street, the Indian Rock Center in East Sonora will be the location of a Flag Day Appreciation Event. Caldwell Insurance Services is accepting your old tattered flag to be exchanged for a new flag for free. They are hosting a free lunch with hotdogs, chips, soda and snow cones, and any cash contributions will be donated to the Tuolumne County Sheriff K9 Unit. At 12:30 PM see a live demonstration of the K9 Unit and a SWAT vehicle will be at the event as well.
Friday June 14 is the day the public pools open up for summer. Recreation swim times, family pool nights, and the link to sign up for all swim classes at the Sonora, Twain Harte, Tuolumne, and Bret Harte pools are in our recreation guide here.
The Angels Camp Museum is hosting Youth Rock Hounds Friday from 10:30-11:30 am. The event is part of the Museum’s Summer Youth Education Program. Geared for youth age 6-13 the event will feature hands on science of erosion, gold panning and a gem and mineral tour. Details on how to register are in the event listing here.
Sonora Bike Day is this Saturday hosted by the Motherlode Bicycle Coalition and WeDeliver Wheels is a free event. There will be free bike checkups and free flat repairs and lots of free advice on riding your bike. Bike trails created by the Sonora Mountain Bike Team at Indigeny will be open, there will be a Bike Rodeo for riders age 5-12 beginning at 10 AM and group rides at 9:30 and 11 AM. Tuolumne County Public Health will be at the event with free bike helmets. Smoothies will be available for attendees who ride a stationary bike with a blender attached to make the free healthy drink.
The 55th annual Columbia Airport Father’s Day Fly-In will take place on Saturday from 10 am to 3 PM. The theme is “Remember When” honoring World War 2 Veterans. There will be airplane rides available, Warbird flybys, classic cars, food, drinks and a Kids Zone. A shuttle will be available from Columbia Elementary School’s front and back parking lots. Saturday Copperopolis Town Square will host a fishing, hunting, and outdoor swap meet. Sellers pay a small space fee that covers insurance so you can sell your junk or buy your dad some cool stuff. The event is open 8 am to noon.
Fourth Wall Entertainment will present ‘Shakesperience’ at the Metropolitan in San Andreas enjoy ‘An Evening of Culture’ at 6 pm and then Romeo & Juliet at the Metropolitan Park at 7:30 pm Saturday nights only through June 29.
On Sunday, Father’s Day, Dad participation is highly encouraged at the Wiffleball Tournament at Standard Park. The event is to raise funds for the Youth Sports Foundation of Tuolumne County. Proceeds will go towards the Foundation Sports Park, currently under construction. The tournament will feature both competitive and non-competitive brackets for teams.

Stanislaus National Forest has shared their schedule of weekly ranger-led events. You can view them all in the family category of our events calendar here. Calaveras Big Trees charges a $10 entrance fee and is hosting events all this week for State Parks Week. Friday Junior Rangers and Cubs will meet to learn to support climate resilience from 10-11 am across from Jack Knight Hall and an all ages Fire and the Forest Guided Hike is 11:30 am to 1 pm. Saturday Celebrate Community and Culture at the Children’s Career Fair 11:30 am to 1:30 pm along the pathway to the Ranger Station. Sunday Junior Rangers and Cubs meet from 10-11 am across from Jack Knight Hall for ‘Care for Our Shared Lands.’
The Standard Farmers Market is open Fridays from 4-8 pm in the parking lot off Peaceful Valley Road in East Sonora. The Angels Camp Farmers Market is Fridays from 5-8 pm through October 4th. The Jamestown the Friday Night Bazaar will be held every 1st and 3rd Friday in June, July, and August from 5-8 pm at Rocca Park. The Sonora Farmers Market continues Saturday mornings. The Farmers Market at Murphys Community Park is open this Sunday as detailed here. The Tuolumne Concerts in the Park & Outdoor Market will not have a Wednesday concert due to the Lumber Jubilee.
The Twain Harte Summer Concert Series happens Saturdays from 8-10pm at the Local Press by the Twain Harte Pool will have music by Brooke & Mike.
Saturday in Groveland Movie Night at Mary Laveroni Park will feature Liar, Liar. Saturday morning meet up at the park for a community clean up event. Every 3rd Saturday is Groveland’s Open Air Market from 10 AM – 3 PM at Motherlode Made.
Saturday evening the Twain Harte Chamber of Commerce will set up Concerts in the Pines from 6 pm to 8pm with Jim Anderson & The Rebels performing Elvis music at Eproson Park.
