Caltrans Plans Post St. Paddy’s Day

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — Adding to ongoing Caltrans chores are a few new projects this week. Here is the rundown…

Overnight guardrail work begins along Highway 49/108 every weeknight from 9 p.m. until 6 a.m. This week the focus is in between Harvard Mine and Rolling Hills roads; also between Mill Villa road and court. Travelers should anticipate ten-minute traffic interruptions. Similar work will also create ten-minute impacts from 8 p.m. until 9 a.m. between the passing lane east of Plainview Road and Twain Harte Drive.

On Highway 120 slope repairs continue between Forest-Packard Canyon roads and the South Fork Tuolumne River Bridge every weekday from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m., which might generate ten-minute waits.

Remember, as earlier reported here, there is a weeklong 24/7 closure of the James E Roberts span in store beginning Monday, March 27. It appears that this week the span will remain open, including during the overnights, with what has become customary ten-minute delays due to one-way traffic controls on both ends.

Calaveras Cone Zones

Along Highway 4 are tree crews are still trimming away every weekday between Batten Road in Vallecito and Meko Drive in Camp Connell, bringing ten-minute delays from 6:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m.

Sunday through Friday tree work is also scheduled along Highway 26 between Highway 49 Mokelumne Hill and the Calaveras/Amador County Line from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. with similar traffic impacts. Another Highway 26 cone zone, for more slope repairs and cleaning between Gill Haven Drive and the passing lane east of Alabama Hill, is slated every weekday from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. The traffic waits will again, be about ten minutes.

Remember the full Highway 26 closure is still in effect between Higdon Road
and North Fork Mokelumne River Bridge near West Point for extensive post-storm repairs. Caltrans estimates it will remain in place 24/7, tentatively until April 14.

Along Highway 49 in Angels Camp expect momentary delays Thursday between the ranger station and Highway 4 during right turn lane, sidewalk and shoulder work from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
