It is the big Mother Lode fair weekend and it is also the Second Saturday Art Night in downtown Sonora. As reported in the news story “Livestock Auction At The Mother Lode Fair” here, the Mother Lode Fair opens Friday at noon and runs through Sunday at 11 PM. Ron Hamilton, who is on the Livestock Auction Committee, was interviewed as Thursday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day” Hamilton noted children in 4-H, FFA and the Pioneers Club will gain skills participating in the auctions. The large livestock auction begins at 4 pm with bidding one hour later, the small livestock auction takes place Sunday afternoon. Other events at the fair include the Budweiser Clydesdales from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Friday, the 4 X 4 Truck Pulls at 7:00pm on Saturday and on Sunday, the Fryer Racing Destruction Derby at 4:00pm. Other Friday, July 8th, events include the weekly Angels Camp Certified Famers Market, and Twain Harte Movies in the Pines at Eproson Park. Saturday is the Twain Harte Area Chamber of Commerce’s Concerts in the Pines.
Also on Saturday the Tuolumne County Master Gardeners will host an Open Garden Day, the Farmory in Columbia will host a 2nd Saturday Sellers & Makers Faire, Mountain Ranch will be “Rockin’ the Park,” there are fundraisers at two local ranches and a Summer Dance Party At The Square in Copperopolis. You can also learn all about Wildlife Wonders of New Melones from Rangers at the New Melones Lake Glory Hole Amphitheater.
