Widespread power outages have several thousand Mother Lode residents with out lights today, following last night’s powerful winter storm.
Cary Madill with PG and E says there are 50 outages in the Tuolumne County area alone that PG and E crews are working to restore.
Since around 8 p.m. last night, 1,000 power customers are out in the Confidence, and Cedar Springs area.
Along the Highway 120 corridor in Groveland, 546 customers are without power. In the Cedar Ridge, Twain Harte, Ponderosa Hills area, Madill says 625 customers are without electricity.
She says crews are out assessing the damages and hope to get some customers restored by this afternoon.
The problem is last night’s storm un-did much of the work in Cold Springs where PG and E crews have been struggling to replace more than 14 power poles snapped off by Monday’s fierce storm. That one storm event cut power to more than 1,600 of that regions residents.
Madill says crews were forced to pull out because of blizzard-like whiteout conditions.
The power company is committing 13 full crews and equipment to repair the damage and restore power to 1,645 customers in the Pinecrest, Dodge Ridge, Strawberry, and Dodge Ridge areas.
