Tuolumne County Supervisors To Approve Preliminary Budget

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — While a government restructuring effort will play out over the coming months, the Tuolumne County Supervisors are planning to approve an initial preliminary spending plan at Tuesday’s meeting. Click here to read an earlier story about the budget challenges.

Meeting documents note that as part of the proposed budget that would take effect on July 1 there would be a hiring freeze for General Fund non-public safety positions, and spending reductions for things like overtime, training seminars, professional development, software, vehicles and expendable equipment.

The recommended General Fund Budget would be $78.1-million, down from $79.2-million last year.

In addition, the board will officially vote to hire the new Public Defender, Scott Gross, and discuss the replacement of old voting equipment.

In business related news, towards the end of the meeting, during a 1:30pm appointment, the supervisors will vote whether to issue a conditional use permit so that up to 40 weddings, or other special events, can be held each year at the Giannelli Vineyards property on Algerine Road in Jamestown.

The supervisors meeting starts at 9am.
