How can I watch media files on my TV that are stored on my computer?

Question: How can I watch media files on my TV that are stored on my computer?

Answer: The first thing you will need to do is have an internet browser connected to your TV, whether it is WebTV, a video game console (Nintendo Wii, Sony PlayStation 3, or Microsoft Xbox 360), or even another computer like a laptop or home theater PC. Next you will need to have your computer that is hosting your media act as a file server. There are a few programs out there that will do this for you. Orb is one brand of software that will work that I have tested myself. Once you have installed Orb on to your computer, you will need to show where your media is located if it is not located under My Documents. You will also need to create a user name and password that will be used later; there will be a Users tab in Orb to create a user account. Next you will go to your TV, start up your Internet browser, and go to mycast.orb.com. You will then be prompted for your user name & password, once you have logged in, you should have access to your media files.
