Rolene Eichmann Bailey Kiesling was born February 13, 1938 and passed away surrounded by loved ones on March 25, 2019.

One of four children, she was born in San Francisco and lived all her life in California. Fiercely loyal, she retained many long term friendships with people she met in grade school or as a young wife and mother. She spent significant time and energy cultivating or reconnecting with extended family members and often traveled to visit.

Highly educated, Rolene obtained a bachelor’s, master’s and eventually an advanced law degree. Her career as a law librarian for a prestigious university led to a career as an attorney focusing on estates and trusts.

Upon retiring to Groveland with Bill, she enjoyed golf, baking and needlework. An avid genealogist, she also volunteered as an archivist for the local historical society and was an active member of her adopted Catholic Church. She loved her husband, children and grandchildren, a good baseball game, time by the ocean and a decedent celebration at the Ahwanee Hotel in Yosemite. She enjoyed throwing a few coins in the slot machines in Lake Tahoe and was never able to pass up a gift shop or craft show. She loved to travel and visited several continents and most of the U.S.

They are loved and missed by 5 children, 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Donations can be made to their favorite charity, Matthew 25 Food Bank at St. Patrick’s Church in Sonora.

William Kiesling, a longtime Groveland resident, passed away peacefully early on Thursday, November 24th, 2022.

William who answered to Bill, Billy and even Willy Lump Lump, was born on April 4, 1931 and raised in Brooklyn, New York, the oldest of three boys. Altar boy, star pitcher for the neighborhood league, he got into plenty of shenanigans with his brothers and friends.

A Navy veteran of the Korean War, Bill’s work with jet fighter engines on the USS Roosevelt aircraft carrier led to a university degree in mechanical engineering and a 35 year career in the field with General Electric. Bill was a father, grandfather and great-grandfather. An affable guy, he had plenty of friends and cronies and enjoyed a good joke and a good visit.

Bill loved golf, baseball and football, model trains, trips into Yosemite, boating, fishing, anything with pasta, ice cream and Henry Weinhard’s root beer. He embraced his German heritage and never forgot his Brooklyn roots.

An active community member, he was an avid long time member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Groveland, along with his beloved wife, Rolene.
