Marilyn Orloff passed away Saturday, December 16th in Foothill Village, Angels Camp, CA. Marilyn graduated with a Masters Degree in math, and met her ex-husband, Ken Orloff who taught her how to fly as well as building airplanes together with this background, she began her flying career as a  pilot of a small plane, and was a flight instructor at Reed Hillview Airport in the Bay area.  She was hired at United Airlines, becoming a small group of groundbreaking women to fly the “friendly skies”.  She flew for 30 years; first as a Flight Engineer, then a Co-Pilot, and then a Captain.  She had the skills, talent and training to achieve her passion.  She was a lifetime member of the 99’s, a women’s flying association.  She was also the first female math teacher hired at West Valley College.  She was generous to her family and both local and national organizations.  She was a member of AAUW.  She loved the outdoors, hiking, swimming and travel.  Hawaii was her favorite vacation spot.  She was loved, and will be greatly missed.  Marilyn is survived by her spouse; Elizabth Sewell, 2 nieces; Laura Stuart & Christine Joseph and spouses, great nieces, nephews and 2 sisters-in-law, a brother-in-law and spouses.  She was preceded in death by her parents Marion and Paul Wright, sister; Sue Warren and brother; Tom Wright.  Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home are handling the arrangements.
