Shirley Ann Hovey, born May 16, 1928 to Blanche and Erle Severns passed away Thursday June 23, 2022 at Avalon Health Care in Sonora, California.

Before moving to Alameda, in 1937, Shirley and her older brother Murray lived with their parents in Martinez, on the property of the Shell Oil Refinery where their Father, Erle, was an office manager for 40+ years.

Shirley attended middle school and graduated from Alameda High School in 1947.

Shirley attended Lux College in San Francisco for fashion design.

On October 15, 1950 Shirley married Philip Bonstin and settled in Kensington and had the first of their 3 children, Greg in 1958.
They moved to Alameda in 1960 and had their other 2 children, Susie in 1960 and Rob in 1964.
Sadly, the marriage broke up in 1970.

In 1986 Shirley married John “Jack” L. Hovey they moved to Sonora in 1989, where they enjoyed their retirement and meeting & making new friends.

Shirley is survived by her 3 children, Greg, Susie and Rob.

Also 5 grandchildren & their Spouses/Significant Others: Joseph & Megan Scott, Jonathan & Rani Scott, Katherine Scott-Barris & Dardo Barris, Nicholas Bonstin & Leah VonEhrenkrook, Max Bonstin & Edgar Purviance.
She also has 5 great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Liam & Ayla Scott, Mia Scott and Dylan Barris.
