Dennis Arnold Capas, Born June 24, 1940 in Alameda County, son of George Capas and Antoinette Ruiz.

He passed away Monday, February 21, 2022 at his home Feb. 21, 2022, early afternoon in Sonora, with his daughter, Nina, and sister-in-law, Sally, at his side in Sonora, California.

Dennis enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas, then transferred to USAR XV US Army Corp. He served as a medic and received a Good Conduct Medal.
After leaving the army, Dennis went to work at American National Can Company, where he met, fell in love with and married Mary Lou Camilli. She had three grown children when they married, but Dennis became their dad.
Dennis was spontaneous and loved to say to his wife and friends, “It’s Friday and we can be in Vegas in just a few hours,” and off they went. He loved to socialize at his two favorite places, Applebees and Woods Creek Cafe, where he was known like Norm on the show “Cheers.” He had so many friendships in Tuolumne County, that everywhere he went he was recognized. He was really depressed when COVID-19 shut down the restaurants.
Dennis had a passion for sports, loved playing golf and shooting pool, but most of all, his family and friends were at the top of his list. He would try to attend every grandchild’s football games, baseball games and cheerleading events.
Dennis was loved by all his family and friends, and he will be greatly missed. He leaves behind his children, Nina R. Hood, of Sonora, and Joseph Camilli, of Discovery Bay; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and his sister-in-law, Sally Trejo. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou Capas; his son, Mario Camilli; and his brother, George Capas.
