Huey, Cheryl
Cheryl Annette Huey, passed away January 8th in Sonora, California with her daughters by her side. Born Christmas Eve, 1937 to John and Ethel Stokes, a pioneering Whittier family. A lifelong Californian, she moved to Sonora in 1974.
She worked for John Lackey Insurance, excelling as an award-winning Farmers Insurance Agent, later operating her own office in Downtown Sonora. Cheryl cherished working with and mentoring daughter, Sandra, and was proud she continued in the industry she loved.
Devoted to family, she enjoyed baking with the grandkids. You could find her traveling and reveling in outdoor activities; camping & gardening were favorites. Cheryl volunteered in Valerie’s classrooms, generously supporting them with supplies & goodies. Cheryl and son, Dale, shared a passion for history, spending many hours recalling family events and genealogy.
She leaves behind three children; Valerie (Gary) Conrado of Angels Camp, Sandra (William) Wood of Sonora, Dale (Crissy) Huey of Woodland, Ca., six grandchildren; Jason (Raigen) Wood, Jennifer Wood, Cody Conrado, Timothy Welch, Kyle & Kaylee Huey, six great-grandchildren; Riley & Titan Calise, Shelby & Lilah Wood, Chloe & Cadence Brinkman.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents John and Ethel (Beth) Stokes, brothers; Terrel, Edward, and Roger Stokes.
