A retired school teacher originally from San Jose, she volunteered for years at the Tuolumne County Humane Society, Humane Society Thrift Store, and as a docent at the Coulterville Museum.
Nancy and her late husband, Tom Vitek, traveled the globe extensively and had a special love for Africa. She left a large wake of loving friends. She was the cornerstone of a large family and leaves behind the families of her sister, Shirley Douglas and 6 children including Karen Genovese, David Wiefels, Paul Wiefels, Kurt Vitek, Lisa Vitek, and the late Julie Hulet. She was a wonderful Grandmother to 13 grandchildren.
Nancy was an example of a life well lived and those of us who experienced her exuberance and loving passion for life will be touched forever. At Nancy’s request, a simple celebration with family is being planned. The family asks that those who would like to express their appreciation for Nancy and what she stood for to please send a generous donation to their local Humane Society in her honor. The family welcomes your sending thoughts, prayers and memories you would like to share to firstname.lastname@example.org.
