Peter August Kay
Born in Spokane, WA. Moved to Portland, OR, Ypsilanti, Ml, Morrisville, PA, Richmond, CA and Oakland, CA. Peter’s father worked for the Kaiser Corporation and his career required the family to move frequently.
Graduated Trenton Catholic Boys High School in NJ in 1956 then attended Bullis Prep School in Silver Springs, MD in 1957 and Annapolis, MD in 1958. Peter enlisted in the Navy in 1955. Spent 4 years in reserves and 2 years active duty in Opama, Japan (1960-1961).
Peter enjoyed playing football, endurance MX racing, racquet ball, cycling and bike tours all over CA and OR. He also loved water skiing and boating. He especially enjoyed doing the swing and Cha Cha with his wife Barbara.
Peter became a pilot in 1985 and was in a partnership with two friends flying a Cessna 182. He was an avid reader and book collector. Enjoyed traveling with Barbara on cruises to Mexico, Bahamas, Hawaii and Europe. In their 60’s and 70’s their traveling changed to trips on their Harley Electra Glide throughout the western states.
Peter moved to Sonora in 1974 with his wife, Barbara and their 2 daughters, Shelly and Renee. Peter continued in the Real Estate business as a Broker until he retired in 2010. He was a member of St Patrick’s Church and served as a lector for 10 years.
