TUD Requests Temporary Water Conservation

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — Due to the recent hot weather, many of the water systems served by the Tuolumne Utilities District are facing low water levels in the water storage tanks throughout the community.

TUD is requesting all customers within its service area undertake voluntary water conservation measures during the next two weeks, until August 11th.

Reports indicate the District´s water treatment plants need that time to recover from the unusually high demand during the recent heat wave and to allow time to repair several equipment failures.

It is suggested that non-essential outside watering such as car washing, or washing down the driveway be curtailed until after this period.

Temporary adjustment to automatic irrigation systems and reduction of lawn turf irrigation would also be appreciated. Officials say cooperation of the District´s customers will go a long way in helping to recover from the recent heat wave.
