Water District Declares Emergency
Valley Springs, CA — The Calaveras County Water District has made an emergency declaration for the Jenny Lind Water Service Area.
A power surge over the weekend knocked out the water pump to residents in the Rancho Calaveras subdivision.
The district says it has switched pumps but water is not coming into the system fast enough to meet demand.
Earlier Monday some 2,000 customers were without water.
The district is asking customers in Rancho to suspend outdoor watering. It is anticipated that water service will be restored to all customers within 48 hours.
Bottled water is available at the Good Samaritan Church, the Jenny Lind Fire Department and at the corner of Highway 26 and Baldwin. A water tap is also available at the Jenny Lind Water Plant on Silver Rapids Road.
Free showers are available at the Family Fitness Center.
To schedule a water delivery contact 754-3543.
