Angels Camp, CA — Amanda Mayes-Smith has been identified as the woman who was fatally injured in a car accident Monday morning.

The Calaveras County Coroner confirmed her identity Monday afternoon.

According to the California Highway Patrol Mayes-Smith was 30-years-old and lived in Angels Camp.

She was driving a 1994 Mercury Sable eastbound on Highway 4 near Batten Road when her car went off the roadway and struck a tree.

The CHP says the left front of the vehicle hit the tree, which was 12 feet down an embankment.

A resident on Batten Road called 911 to report the collision.
