Arnold, CA — The Ebbetts Pass Fire District recognized a number of citizens Monday for their heroic actions.
Included in the group was long time resident Roy Brown. Brown, now in his 90s, was one of the original Hathaway Pines volunteer fire firefighters in the 1940s.
A ceremony was held Monday afternoon, coinciding with the district´s board of directors meeting.
When the Ebbetts Pass Fire District formed in 1964, Brown remained an active volunteer until his retirement in 1975.
Pete Ryan with the district says Brown´s contributions are more than just fighting fire. He was also a docent at Calaveras Big Trees State Park and serves as an important link to the area´s history.
