“Pint For Pint” Underway In Mother Lode

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — The time is now to help those in need.

Delta Blood Bank is asking everyone to help support local hospitals and the community blood bank with blood donations. Officials say due to Holiday vacations and the fact that high schools are out for summer break, the blood supply in the area has dropped dramatically.

Director of Human Resources, Jim O´Neill says right now the Blood Bank is in serious need of negative and positive type O blood, but all blood types are always needed. All donors will receive a “pint for pint” coupon for ice cream from Baskin Robbins, coordinated by Delta Blood Bank.

Locations will be set up in Calaveras and Tuolumne Counties for the next six weeks. Delta Blood Bank says anyone wishing to donate must be at least 17 years old or 16 years old with a doctor´s and parent´s permission, weigh at least 110 pounds and should be in good health.

When it comes to the Sonora location, O´Neill says construction will be over soon.

The Blood Bank began construction of the Greenley Road site in October, with a projected completion date of April; however O´Neill says due to construction problems, the building will most likely not open until September.
