Sponsored by:

Lake Don Pedro, CA — The first major fire in the Mother Lode is still burning strong.

Starting as a mere 15 acre vegetation fire, the Lake Don Pedro fire has spread to 1,500 acres.

CDF reported the fire at 1:45 yesterday, which was caused by people setting up a campsite near Highway 49 and Marsh´s Flat Rd.

The fire is burning so close to the Hetch Hetchy power station that it is causing lines to arc.

Containment is listed at only 3%. CDF officials say the fire is moving in an easterly direction and has not caused any injuries or structural damage.

A briefing is scheduled to take place at 7:00am and more information will be available following the meeting.
